India Gets Reading 7.0: My book, my story

India Gets Reading - Room to Read India’s annual flagship annual campaign that promotes and celebrates children’s connection with reading turns seven this year. The campaign brings together children, families, schools, and communities to highlight the joy, purpose and pride that reading brings into children’s lives.

The 2025 campaign theme My book, my story”, focuses on making space for every child to see themselves in stories. It highlights the importance of children finding their language, identity and everyday experiences reflected in the books they read. The theme also emphasizes shared reading spaces between children, caregivers and teachers, where stories become a common ground for empathy, expression and joyful learning.

Watch a special message by our Country Director, Poornima Garg, as she launches the seventh edition of the India Gets Reading Campaign!

Aligned with the goals of the National Education Policy 2020 and NIPUN Bharat Mission, the campaign encourages children to read together, share their stories and grow as expressive, confident individuals. It also reinforces our collective responsibility to nurture reading environments that are inclusive, participatory and meaningful.
