Puja Trisal is the Program Operations Director in Room to Read India and is responsible for program implementation on the ground. Puja brings over 20 years of professional experience on the issues of education, livelihood, health, and women empowerment. Her core competencies are strategic thinking and planning skills, Operational Excellence, and Project Management.

Prior to joining Room to Read, Puja worked with Max India Foundation, Smile Foundation, Bharti Foundation, ActionAid India, and Catholic Relief Services in different capacities. This distinct experience of having worked with INGOs, NGOs as well as corporate foundations has given Puja distinct advantage of the understanding the nuances of development sector across different models/approaches.

Puja has worked with hundreds of grassroots NGOs across the country, as well as various bi-lateral and multi-lateral funding organizations including corporate foundations. She has led the development of project proposals for funding as well as implemented various donor projects successfully.

Puja has various publications to her credit including Towards Reclaiming Our Humanness [capturing reflections on the issue of homelessness], Health Care Beyond Zero, Art of Partnership [a book capturing partnership experience of working with 74 institutions], Nascent Steps [capturing Journey of 10 years of an organization] and many more. Puja has co-written for UN Economic & Social Council on the themes of "Realizing the future we want: Integrating population issues into sustainable development, including the post-2015 development agenda” as well as “The Logical Transition from MDGs to SDGs”.

Puja has been a speaker on various forums like Assocham, National CSR Network, Wilde Ganzen to name a few.

Puja has done her master's in political science as well as B.Ed. She taught pre-primary children for nearly 6 years before plunging into the development sector.

Puja's work mantra of operational excellence is defined by Innovation and Simplification; Innovation is essential for enhanced optimization and Simplification is the key for scalability.  She believes in "Yes We Can" and leads by exemplary leadership qualities defined by trust, camaraderie, and ethics.
